Get That Thing Outta My Face (a Freudian treatise....)

about

Ehresman sheepishly remembers how this song came about: "I was in various bands in the mid-80s with my good friend Derrick Caballero....At the time (well, always, really....)....Austin scenesters were over-enamored with punk rock in their desperate desire to seem 'cool'.....and part of the Austin punk ethos was to not be able to play very well and just generally not take the music very seriously.....Derrick and I thought 'well, hell, we can write much more offensive lyrics than those guys, but put it to much better music!'......and so, I'm sorry to say, we took that approach for several years, and I wrote this song during that period.....I will say that we were able to make punks blush on several occasions, which we took as a great success!......But looking back, I must confess that we were being a bit childish, lyrically.....but we did have fun, for what it's worth."

He continues "This song was recorded earlier a couple of times, by our bands Dirty Dog, and then Swine Patrol, but for some reason I thought it should be resurrected at a time when I really knew better, and thus it was recorded for the first Snipe Hunt album, complete with percussion breakdown in the middle."
