Back when I was in high school in the late 70s, the first Peter Gabriel solo album I bought was the first one he issued, which came out in 1977. It was so strange and eclectic, with such variations in styles across the album, that it really had an impact on me. I think it's one of the reasons why I've always recorded solo albums of mine with a very wide variety of genres on them. A big influence, for sure.

One Sunday in Austin in 2000, I got disgusted with the football game I was watching (this was back before I quit watching NFL games cold turkey in the mid-2000s, in response to the Cowboys signing Terrell Owens), and decided on the spur of the moment to attempt recording a re-arrangement of this song from the first Gabriel solo album. I also wanted to try recording something with the spiffy electric guitar that Vic (my Snipe Hunt duo partner) had left at my house. And this is the result. A weird song to try to cover (given that the original has a full orchestra on it!), but that was part of the fun.
