Around 2000, I was trying to find a way to play the piano and other keyboard parts that I was hearing in my head for songs I was writing and recording. I'm a totally self-taught musician, and can't read a note of written music, and so this was quite a challenge. Part of pushing myself in this regard was working out a solo piano arrangement for Peter Gabriel's "Here Comes the Flood," and then trying to sing and play it at the same time. This recording captures this early effort. Part of the impetus was trying out a new microphone on loan for possible purchase (ended up splurging to get a better one.....).

These days, I can pull it off.....on a good day :-)

This was back when I had my Ensoniq KS-32 keyboard, which had 88 weighted keys and was constructed using Fatar keys from Italy. It had limitations in its onboard sequencer, but man, that was the nicest feeling keys I've ever played. Such a nice piano sound, too.
