about

In my opinion, Sandy Denny had the most stunning, beautiful, powerful, and haunting voice of any singer before or since. And she was such an emotive songwriter as well. The tragedy of her early decline and death is only compounded by the fact that--inexplicably--she was never nearly as well known by the general public as she deserves, with Fairport Convention or as a solo artist.

When listening to Sandy, I feel like it rips open something deep inside my heart. There's no other artist who affects me like she does. So I've always thought that it's one of my jobs in the world to fly the flag for her, to perform her songs, and just generally try to clue people into this astounding artist. How many other artists do you know that have five different box sets devoted to them?

Snipe Hunt never actually played this song live, and when the guys came over to record that night I asked them if they wouldn't mind it. To their credit, they agreed....went out into the living room to hear the song once....then went into the studio and did a nice job of playing a song that they'd never heard before.
