Ehresman tells us "I wanted to try to write a real piano pounder to open the album, with the solo being the only electric guitar in it.......my wrists hurt for days by the time it was done, so I guess I succeeded." Between the piano, the throbbing bass and the horn parts, the song is a concise, driving opener.
