Ehresman reflects: "For one year, I met and started dating a warm, generous girl who died, completely unexpectedly about 13 months after I met her.......She left a little girl, Evan, who was 3 1/2 years old at the time of her mother's passing....I had no clue what I could possibly say to her, and so I thought maybe I could express something hopeful for her future in a piece of music....and so I wrote and recorded 'Evan's Waltz' and sent it to her grandparents, where she was living.....I sure hope they played it for her then......I cannot imagine what that poor little girl was going through, and I had this deep need to somehow will her some strength to get through it......This piece of music is my attempt to do that."
